A program that gives you a foundational and advanced understanding of underground mining operations: geological formations, drilling and production techniques, and safety and sustainability protocols.

The Intermediate Diploma in Underground Mining is a carefully structured program spanning six academic semesters followed by six months of on-the-job training in mines. The curriculum equips trainees with the knowledge needed for effective operations in underground mining environments, offering deep insight into geological formations, extraction methods, advanced drilling techniques, ventilation and ground support systems, and the safety and sustainability protocols central to this environment. Trainees train on advanced simulators that replicate underground drilling, loading, and haulage equipment before moving to the field.

  • Complete all course units: pass all written and performance assessments for every unit in the program (60% minimum passing grade).

  • Complete on-the-job training: successfully finish the required training period while demonstrating practical application of skills in a professional environment.
