A program that qualifies you to efficiently operate, manage, and maintain mineral processing plants — from equipment management and process optimization to quality control and sustainability practices.

The Intermediate Diploma in Mining Plant Operations offers a comprehensive learning and training experience spanning six academic semesters, followed by six months of on-the-job training at mineral processing plants. The program is designed to transfer the specialized knowledge and skills needed to efficiently operate, manage, and maintain mining plants; trainees learn the processing stages from crushing and grinding to separation and concentration, and train on the latest techniques in equipment management, process optimization, quality control, and environmental and sustainability practices, with hands-on training on simulators and in the institute's scaled-down mineral processing lab.

Graduation Requirements

  • Complete all course units: pass all written and performance assessments for every unit in the program (60% minimum passing grade).

  • Complete on-the-job training: successfully finish the required training period while demonstrating practical application of skills in a professional environment.
